Abstract
The Nordic folklore and traditions of the Scandinavian people, who were once known as the Northern Germanic people, dates back to 9th century AD. Their folklore and traditions have been passed down from generation to generation through poems, stories, songs, and later through text. The subjects of this Scandinavian folklore are ghosts, witches, and the Norse Gods (Æsir clan, Odin, Thor, Loki, etc.) and (Vanir clan which includes the Gods of fertility Freyja and Freyr, Njörðr God of the sea, merchants, and wealth, etc.). Current day Scandinavia consists of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and when used in a more broad term it will also include Åland Islands, the Faroe Islands, Finland, and Iceland.
